5 Key Failure Factors in (Culture) Change

There are many different stories about organizational change!

For example, you have probably heard that 70% of change projects fail! While there is little solid research behind this, such "facts" are very easily accepted as true.

There are simply no absolute truths about change. However, we can identify a number of failure factors. Eliminating these factors will likely increase the chance of a successful change. What are the failure factors that we see?

  • No vision

  • Dishonest change process

  • No clear goals and change feedback

  • No trust in or support for leadership

  • Culture that frustrates change

In the latter, the hindering forces in the organizational culture, we have recently delved further. How changeable is an organizational culture?

On one hand, organizational culture can be suffocating, which stalls any form of change.

On the other, organizational culture can be fleeting, preventing any change from having a lasting impact.

Every culture change is different and requires a thorough approach. Fortunately, we regularly see successful culture changes. In this, it seems helpful to bring the almost mythical proportions of a culture change back to the more tangible level of behavior change. Because if we tell each other in advance that a change process will take years and is very complicated, then you can assume that this will be the case.

That's why we are happy to help demystify culture change!
